…I arrived in Missouri to start my career with Boeing. The year has gone by incredibly fast, and it feels just like yesterday, when I moved here.
I drove through the night to get here on December 4 of last year with nothing more than my car, and whatever could fit in it. I started with Boeing a few days later and worked for the company for a couple of weeks before our annual holiday break, which allowed me to go back home for 10 days or so. I have since filled my apartment up with stuff, and eventually bought a house and moved into it.
I have been able to make a number of friends out here, once I was able to settle in and was not quite ‘the new guy.’ A lot of my friends live out here in St. Charles County, and I live more or less in the middle of all of them, so that makes it nice and convenient to either go to their place or have them come to mine. I still have not had a lot of success with dating this year, but that is ok…it will come.
Work has gone well this year. I had my first performance evaluation just today, and it went well. However, I knew it would go well, as I found out last week that I received a promotion. Boeing is a fantastic company to work for, and I am looking forward to seeing what else the company has to offer in the coming months and years.
I really like the St. Louis area and have no idea if I will stay here forever, end up relocating somewhere else, or even finding myself back in Erie. I won’t rule anything out at this point, but I do figure that I will be here at the least, for the next several years. I had a great first year here, and hopefully, have a great year number two!

'The Spirit of Erie' will cover adjustments he made from living in Erie to his move into St. Louis, from college student to full fledged adult and everything in-between.

Happy anniversary of your move! Do you enjoy your employement with Boeing? They seem to be a good company [ similar to GE here in Erie,PA] . There was a large Boeing plant in Kansas, where my son is stationed but they have since downsized it, unfortunately. But the aviation industry is strong there. Let’s just pray that they can weather this economic storm in good shape.
Warm regards.
