I just got back from the annual Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year event held out in Palm Springs. I always enjoy going to these (we were a regional winner in 2004, so we get invited). Not only is the weather ALWAYS nice, but there are great speakers, amazing stories and lots of inspiration. Jay Leno hosts the awards ceremony (I actually get to wear a black tie and tux : ) and this year Joe Cocker provided the (terrific) music.
This year, however, was even more important, I believe. It was a great antidote to the economic negativity that is permeating our society 24/7 on all the cable news. And not to say that the bad news is inaccurate–it probably isn’t (in fact, keynote speaker warned the business leaders there that whatever “worst case” they were preparing for, it will probably be even WORSE than that).
But this conference focused on the positive, and attracted hundreds of business leaders who are dealing with whatever it is this economy will be throwing at us, and finding ways to not only survive this mess, but to succeed, to come out stronger on the other side.
A good week in the desert for me.

Jim,
You are so right. Positive energy is all important in every environment.
I do believe you inspired some people last night. I know LA could not wait to tell me the great story you shared. Not that her enthusiasum is ever lacking…………….(and I do mean that) but I could hear it in her voice,
she is happy to have yet another great story of dedication and determination to share with the customers of Logistics +
Positive enegry and positive outlooks will go a long way towards helping getting us out of this current mess. It may get a lot worse, but it will get better again.

Yes, as Peter Schiff says, there is always a bull market somewhere even if it is only in gold, guns, bodybags or canned Spam.
