Channel 24 has a story on YourErie about two guys who released 18,000 gallons of crude oil into a couple of streams that run into the Kinzua Reservoir:
Two men have been arrested by Pennsylvania State Police accused of deliberately releasing 18,000 gallons of crude oil into a tributary of the Kinzua Reservoir According to a spokesperson for the Department of Environmental Proitection the men opened the valves on tank batteries in Corydon and Hamilton townships, releasing the oil. The two men are identified as Andrew and Christopher Horton. They are in the McKean County Jail. The oil flowed into the North Fork stream, which flows parallel to Route 321 until joining with the Chapel Fork on its way to Chappel Bay and the Kinzua Reservoir.
Sometimes I wonder what goes through people’s heads…
“Hey Andrew!”
“Yeah?”
“Hey, lets go down to the crick and release some of dat dare oil into the crick!”
“Yeehaw! That sounds like a good time!”
I live in Richmond, VA and work as a firefighter, but I try to make as many trips back to Erie is as humanly and financially feasible.
Mixing Erie and politics can be dicey, but I'm gonna try to do it here!

These morons help perpetuate the notion that everyone who lives in rural PA is a redneck idiot. No wonder Obama thinks we’re gun toting fools. You try to defend the people taht live in those areas, then something like this happens where there is absolutely no reason for it other than to make trouble.

I’m not sure how, but it has to be society’s fault in some way.

Yeah it is, Jim. A person can’t be locked away for life for being totally stupid–that wouldn’t be politically correct. A fitting punishment would be for the fools to clean up the mess, wipe every blade of grass, and bury every fish and animal that does not survive. THEN be locked up for life.

I was up in that area this past weekend. According to a friend of mine, who happens to be a PSP Trooper that worked in that area, it is a right of passage for the folks in that area to get pepper sprayed or spend some time in the slammer.
Daryl: Hey Larry, what did you do last night?
Larry: Well Daryl, I got into a fight at the watering hole and got the new flavor of pepper spray. That was a blast.
Daryl: When are they going to get the new tasers?
Get the picture here. I can’t believe what these yahoos did. That place is a beautiful area. I was lucky enough to spot a Bald Eagle. Those guys deserve whatever punishment they get.

And at today’s prices, that’s what, $17 billion in lost oil? What a couple of jerks.
