Erie County Executive Mark DiVecchio, and Chief of Staff Sean Wiley pulled out the stops for DiVecchio’s Town Hall Meeting in North East Wednesday evening.  Attending were the majority of county government department heads, who outnumbered the interested citizens.  So much for interest in how government makes the choices they make!
Each director gave a brief […]

A recent story on GoErie.com revealed that former State Legislator, Linda Bebko-Jones, is in talks with the Attorney General’s office seeking to plea-bargain her way out of a trial on charges that she and her aide, Mary Fiolek, falsified a number of signatures on her re-election petitions.  Given the vast numbers of politicians who don’t seem to exhibit a […]

An article on the GoErie website posted this afternoon, announced that Erie Coke Corp., located on the East Bayfront, has been hit with a 6.1 Million dollar fine for chronic violations of the air purity act, and significant non-compliance.  According to the spokesman this flagrant violation of the laws has been an ongoing problem for […]

Just a few minutes ago, President Bush asked Congress to open up off shore drilling in an attempt to alleviate the crisis which is affecting fuel prices, thus raising the cost of almost everything that must be transported to market.  It is very important to reduce our dependance on foreign oil, and reducing our usage is […]

As mentioned in Thursday’s goerie.com,  the American Lung Association has given Erie it’s best air-quality rating ever, a “C”.  Now that we have achieved some progress on that issue, can anyone really give a good reason why we should allow the tire plant to be constructed?  With GAF gone, IP gone, and much of the […]

May is just around the corner, and already things have started blossoming in Erie.
Unfortunately, one of those things that comes with hot weather is the violence that always seems to pop up in the poorer neighborhoods.  Already we have experienced several severe attacks that have resulted in injury to the victim.  What could possible have […]

The unofficial election day stats can be found here.  http://www.eriecountyelections.com/assets/results_chart_erie.pdf  Sure seems like a lot of voter apathy, only 1/2 of Democrats and less than 1/3 of Republicans bothered to vote.  We must find a way to turn that around!  the future of the Country depends on it.

About 'What If?'

Dale HannahI am a life-long resident of Erie County, twenty years of which were spent living in the City of Erie. I retired from the tool-and-die trade two years ago, and now have time to enjoy the opportunity to observe city and county goings-on in more depth.
