Erie County Executive Mark DiVecchio, and Chief of Staff Sean Wiley pulled out the stops for DiVecchio’s Town Hall Meeting in North East Wednesday evening. Attending were the majority of county government department heads, who outnumbered the interested citizens. So much for interest in how government makes the choices they make!
Each director gave a brief […]
I will be attending the Rust Belt Bloggers’ conference this weekend, hoping to do some networking with old and new friends from the blogging world. For those of you who may not be aware, The Rust Belt Bloggers is quite similar in purpose to our own GlobalErie Network, in that the thrust of their association is […]
An article on the GoErie website posted this afternoon, announced that Erie Coke Corp., located on the East Bayfront, has been hit with a 6.1 Million dollar fine for chronic violations of the air purity act, and significant non-compliance. According to the spokesman this flagrant violation of the laws has been an ongoing problem for […]
What a shame that the unacceptable behavior of a few seems to be leading to the requirement that all teens coming to Liberty Park for concerts must be accompanied by an adult. While I’m sure that there are those young people who are discourteous and loud, I find it hard to believe that the majority act […]
I honestly believe that the time is ripe to turn our attention to windmill farms as a practicle means to generate the electrical energy we need. With the steady decline in fossil fuels and the astronomical increase in crude prices we’re hit with daily, it only makes sense to take advantage of wind power.

Lots of good things are happening in the mid-city area from Ash to Sassafras, above Twelfth Street. Toward Ash there is a beautiful neighborhood park just north of the railroad, and some revitalized and newer housing, including the new Condos at 14th and Parade. Julio Reyes’ Latinos’ Restaurant and Bar has revitalized the existing building […]

My Doc called in a prescription to my friendly local chemist a day or so ago, for a medication I have been using for years, which is […]
Much has been written on various GlobalErie blogs about what makes Erie a great place to live, and there are many things of which to be proud. There is another whole story to tell about the small towns that surround the city, and their contributions to the Erie lifestyle.
I live in North East, so this […]
I really don’t know if it’s just euphoria over the return of spring, but it seems to me as if a new sense of pride in our city is beginning to take hold. It became apparent with the welcome the city gave to GE, and continues with the enthusiasim for Paul Nelsons new addition, Ravine […]
Erie Management Group has debuted their new video showcasing Erie past, present , and future. The video presents Erie at it’s finest, and has resulted in a powerful new tool for promoting Erie. I am a life-long resident of Erie County, twenty years of which were spent living in the City of Erie. I retired from the tool-and-die trade two years ago, and now have time to enjoy the opportunity to observe city and county goings-on in more depth.
I hope to create a venue to suggest new ideas and solutions to exisiting problems with my blog, 'What If?'.
