Erie County Executive Mark DiVecchio, and Chief of Staff Sean Wiley pulled out the stops for DiVecchio’s Town Hall Meeting in North East Wednesday evening. Attending were the majority of county government department heads, who outnumbered the interested citizens. So much for interest in how government makes the choices they make!
Each director gave a brief […]
Bloggers from as far away as Colorado are convening in Erie this weekend for a 2 day summit. The main thrust of the get-together is a chance to meet local bloggers and share ideas, thus creating a more regional approach to our efforts.
Of the 8 people who were here for the opening session at BrewErie […]
A recent story on GoErie.com revealed that former State Legislator, Linda Bebko-Jones, is in talks with the Attorney General’s office seeking to plea-bargain her way out of a trial on charges that she and her aide, Mary Fiolek, falsified a number of signatures on her re-election petitions. Given the vast numbers of politicians who don’t seem to exhibit a […]
County Executive Mark Divecchio is planning to convene a ‘meeting of local elected officials’ within the next couple of weeks, to discuss how to best lobby Governor Rendell for the 43.5 million dollars needed for the updates to the Tullio Arena.
It would seem to me that there are many more important areas that should be upgraded, […]
Just a few minutes ago, President Bush asked Congress to open up off shore drilling in an attempt to alleviate the crisis which is affecting fuel prices, thus raising the cost of almost everything that must be transported to market. It is very important to reduce our dependance on foreign oil, and reducing our usage is […]
SURPRISE!!!! Erie did not break the top 50 places to “Make a Lot and Spend a Little” according to Fox News in a ranking by ‘Sperlings Best Places’. In fact, only 2 Pennsylvania Cities, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, were on the list. Why not and what do we do about raising our stature relative to other places in […]
I honestly believe that the time is ripe to turn our attention to windmill farms as a practicle means to generate the electrical energy we need. With the steady decline in fossil fuels and the astronomical increase in crude prices we’re hit with daily, it only makes sense to take advantage of wind power.
Here in […]
In an article in the ETN and on goerie this morning, it was brought out that the Koehler Brewery Square Partnership is now trying to talk the City of Erie into accepting an interest or full ownership (not sure which, yet) in the artifacts that were saved and stored during the destruction of the Erie […]
Does anyone else out there feel like the insurance/pharmaceutical business is gouging the public even more than the gas and oil industry? Almost as much as our politicians? My Doc called in a prescription to my friendly local chemist a day or so ago, for a medication I have been using for years, which is […]
I think we as citizens need to salute those folks in Erie who went far out of their way to make the GE Shareholder meeting such a success. GE Boss Jeff Immelt wrote a thank-you note to Erie praising the community and it’s people. You can read it here. As Mr. Immelt said, the city […]
I am a life-long resident of Erie County, twenty years of which were spent living in the City of Erie. I retired from the tool-and-die trade two years ago, and now have time to enjoy the opportunity to observe city and county goings-on in more depth.
I hope to create a venue to suggest new ideas and solutions to exisiting problems with my blog, 'What If?'.
