Another 100 workers can be added to the list of those for whom the year’s end brings depressing news rather than hope for the New Year. ETN’s Erica Erwin reported this morning that the ICT Group, a market research facility, closed their Erie operations on December 30. You can read the report here.
Once again, the (now) former employees were apparently not informed of their fate until the day of the closure, and were then told that the lay-off is permanent.
I really do not understand why those in management positions feel they must squeeze every drop of effort from those who struggle to support a family, then reward them with a last minute lay-off. Every worker who tries to do their job deserves more consideration than has been displayed by several employers in the recent past.
Let’s hope the massive “Bailout” gifts from the Feds to the billion dollar corporations and their blood-sucking management somehow manage to dribble a little coinage to those less fortunate among us who struggle daily with the task of caring for their families.
Happy New Year!
I am a life-long resident of Erie County, twenty years of which were spent living in the City of Erie. I retired from the tool-and-die trade two years ago, and now have time to enjoy the opportunity to observe city and county goings-on in more depth.
I hope to create a venue to suggest new ideas and solutions to exisiting problems with my blog, 'What If?'.
