I will be attending the Rust Belt Bloggers’ conference this weekend, hoping to do some networking with old and new friends from the blogging world. For those of you who may not be aware, The Rust Belt Bloggers is quite similar in purpose to our own GlobalErie Network, in that the thrust of their association is to discuss ways to revitalize their own areas, and to communicate with other members from different locales concerning their hopes and successes.
I hope to glean a ton of ideas from the out-of-town folks who attend the event, and set up lines of communication between Erie and the rest of the so-called “Rust Belt”. I will be sharing the experience here on “What If” over the next week or so, and I understand that Ian (”The People Demand It”) will also be attending and blogging from the conference.
If anyone has any suggestions or questions that need to be addressed, please let me know.
I am a life-long resident of Erie County, twenty years of which were spent living in the City of Erie. I retired from the tool-and-die trade two years ago, and now have time to enjoy the opportunity to observe city and county goings-on in more depth.
I hope to create a venue to suggest new ideas and solutions to exisiting problems with my blog, 'What If?'.

Dale,
I will not attend because I am in California. I noticed somewhere that you will be talking about the Compact treaty protecting our Lakes water so I would like to suggest you bring the issue of the Tire Burning Plant right on the Lake.
I am positive that the material I created in my last post will bring a lot of light to the discussion. If the quality of the DEP application filed by ERE reflects the quality of the daily operation of the Tire Burning Plant our Lake will be in serious troubles.
From my perspective the more Bloggers are aware of this issue the more people in the whole region might scream about it.
Have a good time.

I left both last night’s meeting and this afternoon’s meeting feeling great! I really appreciated how every was willing to share their ideas, but also to give other folks air time and support. I am very excited by this project, and thanks, Dale, for representing Global Erie!
