I think we as citizens need to salute those folks in Erie who went far out of their way to make the GE Shareholder meeting such a success. GE Boss Jeff Immelt wrote a thank-you note to Erie praising the community and it’s people. You can read it here. As Mr. Immelt said, the city sparkled and the welcome the attendees received was tremendous. In driving around the city, signs were visible all over welcoming GE to our Great City by the Great Lake.
Erie, I salute you for stepping up to the plate. That was a hell of a home run!!!
I am a life-long resident of Erie County, twenty years of which were spent living in the City of Erie. I retired from the tool-and-die trade two years ago, and now have time to enjoy the opportunity to observe city and county goings-on in more depth.
I hope to create a venue to suggest new ideas and solutions to exisiting problems with my blog, 'What If?'.

I concur! My husband has been employed by General Electic Transportation since 1979 [with a couple of layoff periods in the downturn of the early eighties]. We are also shareholders in the company. We attended the event at the Bayfront Convention Center. It was well done. It was very nice to see that expression of thanks from Mr. Immelt. Hope springs eternal for Erie.
