A bit of information came up at the council meeting the other day, I believe from Horan-Kunco, that the tire plant will be catagorized as a class 5, or major source of pollution. When our elected officials stand in front of us and tell us that the plant emissions are not going to be a problem, from whom are they getting their information? The DEP must think otherwise, to rate the plant a class 5. So why are some of the council members so dead-set against trying to ensure that the emissions are fully monitored. Somewhere, a line must be drawn to protect us from more toxins in our environment.
If only our officials would work as dilligently toward convincing John Kanzius to bring his patient trials and manufacturing needs to Erie as they have trying to convince us that the ERE plant is the best thing to ever land in Erie! We have the medical facilities and the manufacturing expertise and capacity already in place. Let’s Roll, Erie!!
I think we would rather have Erie be renowned as a major player in cancer treatment than as a major source of cancer-causing emissions.
I am a life-long resident of Erie County, twenty years of which were spent living in the City of Erie. I retired from the tool-and-die trade two years ago, and now have time to enjoy the opportunity to observe city and county goings-on in more depth.
I hope to create a venue to suggest new ideas and solutions to exisiting problems with my blog, 'What If?'.

I see the Erie Government as a healthy breakfast. Your expecting eggs, whole wheat toast, orange juice, yogurt. Instead you get fruit loops.

LOL, TC—now why would you want to insult fruit loops by comparing them to Erie politicians?????
