GlobalErie blogger Ian Enterline is reporting that EmergyCare CEO Richard Gibbons resigned his position yesterday.
We started what we hope is a new Erie tradition last December when we launched our first “GlobalErie Awards”.
Last year, we solicited reader input and selected award winners in categories such as “Person of the Year”, “Business of the Year”, “New Development of the Year”, and “Erie Expatriate of the Year”.
I’m going to be doing […]
How lively has Outside Erie become?
This morning marked our 5,000th comment — a number that doesn’t include the thousands of other comments left over the past year or so on our other blogs.
Thanks to all of you for helping make this Erie’s most productive and interesting forum. I look forward to many thousands […]
I’ve somehow neglected to mention that GlobalErie is now the home of the full archive of Erie Media-Go-Round, the landmark Erie media blog written by the late Jack Tirak.
If you’re looking to read any of Tirak’s former posts, find old comments, or learn more about Erie media, we’ll house it here in perpetuity.
GlobalErie writer Rebecca Styn is borrowing from The Ramones in relaunching her blog under a new title, Learn to Listen.
Rebecca was among this site’s early contributors, writing a blog called The Art of Erie.
But she’s long been interested in changing the focus of her writing — reflecting on her role as a young professional in […]
During my visit this week to Erie, I had a chance to sit down with Press & Tower author Joel Natalie to record a podcast about Global Erie, philanthropy, social media, and more.
You can check it out here on Joel’s blog.
I’d love to hear what you think.
Erie will be well represented at this weekend’s PodCamp Pittsburgh — an event aimed at helping folks learn more about social media.
Erie native Douglas Derda — the author of the bubbly beer blog Should I Drink That? — is one of the speakers. And he invites his Erie brethren to make the trip down I-79 […]
I wanted to share a few items worth noting as we head into the weekend.
Dale Hannah offers a link to the proposed Bayfront Master Plan and invites your input on What If?
Ed Tonkin offers more details on his solution to the energy crisis (alluded to in a comment earlier this week on this blog) on […]
Amid all of the debate about the bailout bill, the election, and Warren Buffett, came this nugget from T.J., a GlobalErie community member who lives in Maine.
It’s a great reminder of why we started this Web site more than a year ago — and what we hope it accomplishes.
Let me just say that there is […]
We interrupt this rather heated discussion about our country’s financial mess to share a video tribute to the late Jack Tirak.
Jack, as many GlobalErie readers know, was one of Erie’s most influential bloggers and media personalities. We are currently working with the Tirak family to archive his blog, Erie Media-Go-Round, on this site.
After more than six years working as a journalist in Erie, I'm now the web editor for the Chronicle of Philanthropy in Washington, D.C., and the publisher of GlobalErie.com. I still maintain close ties to Erie - a community that I care about deeply. I hope this Web site can help inspire a better future for Erie.
