In Erie (and in many cities, actually) the same handful of people tend to get all of the accolades.
That’s why I was gratified to see some new names among those who offered nominations for our second-annual GlobalErie Person of the Year award.
Some well-known names such as Millcreek cancer researcher John Kanzius and Erie Redevelopment Authority […]
I’ve somehow neglected to mention that GlobalErie is now the home of the full archive of Erie Media-Go-Round, the landmark Erie media blog written by the late Jack Tirak.
If you’re looking to read any of Tirak’s former posts, find old comments, or learn more about Erie media, we’ll house it here in perpetuity.
We interrupt this rather heated discussion about our country’s financial mess to share a video tribute to the late Jack Tirak.
Jack, as many GlobalErie readers know, was one of Erie’s most influential bloggers and media personalities. We are currently working with the Tirak family to archive his blog, Erie Media-Go-Round, on this site.
The late Jack Tirak built one of Erie’s most popular and important Web sites in Erie Media-Go-Round.
And since Tirak’s untimely passing in June, there have been a lot of discussions about how to best reignite the discussions that he had started on his landmark blog.
Today, Joel Natalie attempts to fill the void with The Press […]
Jack Tirak’s family has posted a message to the Erie community on his Erie Media-Go-Round blog.
As you can expect, it has been a difficult time for the Tiraks in the days following his unexpected passing and, through their grief, his survivors have been trying to decide what to do with his popular media blog. It […]
Jack Tirak’s blog is no longer frozen and comments are now appearing on the site with moderation.
The family has made arrangements with the Quinn Funeral Home at 9th and Liberty streets.
Viewings will be held Friday 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11am at St. Luke’s Church.
I received a note this morning from Jack Tirak’s daughter, Lita.
She and the Tirak family want to thank everyone who has shared their condolences. She also wanted to me to pass on that commenting on his Erie Media-Go-Round has been frozen. The family does not have access to the blog and cannot monitor any new […]
I am deeply saddened by tonight’s news that Erie Media-Go-Round author and former ad exec Jack Tirak has died.
As many of you know, Jack has been a great friend of GlobalErie from our earliest days. In fact, he has been our biggest booster.
He posted frequently about what we were doing and was a frequent commenter […]
Jack Tirak at Erie Media Go Round gives props to Waldameer owner Paul Nelson for investing in the Ravine Flyer II without taxpayer money.
It is indeed worth highlighting Erie entrepreneurs who are putting money into their businesses and investing in the community — especially after the taxpayer-funded fiascoes such as the failed IFP juice plant […]
The name Tirak is well known in Erie media circles. Jack Tirak is the host of the popular blog Erie Media-Go-Round and has been a longtime presence in the print and broadcast world.
Apparently, Jack’s interest in Erie and the media has reached a second generation. His daughter, Lita, has been a regular commenter on Outside […]
After more than six years working as a journalist in Erie, I'm now the web editor for the Chronicle of Philanthropy in Washington, D.C., and the publisher of GlobalErie.com. I still maintain close ties to Erie - a community that I care about deeply. I hope this Web site can help inspire a better future for Erie.
