Amid all of the debate about the bailout bill, the election, and Warren Buffett, came this nugget from T.J., a GlobalErie community member who lives in Maine.
It’s a great reminder of why we started this Web site more than a year ago — and what we hope it accomplishes.
Let me just say that there is little to no demand for my skills in Erie.
It is not Erie’s fault; it is my own.
However, many of the people in my classes (MBA-PSUE) were in the same boat — we have to bail on Erie to find a job that pays.
If Erie ever wants their talent back (doubt they’ll ever want me back
), things will have to change.
Many read this blog to keep up to date and many other people discuss issues to propose solutions. Surely, some politician or local leader has gotten some idea from this blog. To make sure your posts aren’t the only ones on here and the only voice heard, I try put my two cents in from afar.
View what I say as kind of making sure that I have some future coming back to Erie–at least a vacation home or something. But, we do love Maine.
Keep it up, T.J.
And please keep spreading the word to those who do not yet know about this forum. The more voices, the better.
After more than six years working as a journalist in Erie, I'm now the web editor for the Chronicle of Philanthropy in Washington, D.C., and the publisher of GlobalErie.com. I still maintain close ties to Erie - a community that I care about deeply. I hope this Web site can help inspire a better future for Erie.
