Last week, before the world tuned out for Labor Day, I put out a call for a list of Erie expatriates who are doing interesting things in other cities.
We’ve received some great early suggestions — from football star Fred Biletnikoff, to tae-bo guru Billy Blanks, to model Ann Markley.
Ideally, I’d like the list to include more unsung heroes — people who aren’t famous, but who are doing some really cool things. It could be running a business, writing a book, or doing great philanthropic work. It could also be a younger adult who appears poised for success.
Think hard on this one, folks. I know there are some great stories out there.
After more than six years working as a journalist in Erie, I'm now the web editor for the Chronicle of Philanthropy in Washington, D.C., and the publisher of GlobalErie.com. I still maintain close ties to Erie - a community that I care about deeply. I hope this Web site can help inspire a better future for Erie.

well, how about Sharon Stone? She’s from Crawford County, close enough…!
