Nice to see news that Congress could soon be giving $500,000 to researchers who are testing John Kanzius‘ cancer treatment theory.
Cynics will note that it took Rep. Phil English until the eve of a hotly contested reelection campaign to make this project a priority.
But the motivation isn’t what’s important here.
This project is vitally important to Erie’s future — and potentially to mankind.
Let’s hope this money comes through and that we can see more progress.
After more than six years working as a journalist in Erie, I'm now the web editor for the Chronicle of Philanthropy in Washington, D.C., and the publisher of GlobalErie.com. I still maintain close ties to Erie - a community that I care about deeply. I hope this Web site can help inspire a better future for Erie.

It is nice to see that Phil English has finally taken notice of the potential of our district. However, it is too little too late. He ranks near the bottom of PA representatives who bring money into the district to fund such important things as cancer research. John Kanzius is an entrepreneurial inspiration, we should have been supporting him long ago. If Phil English cannot realize the potential of our district until right before an election, then we should find a representative who will truly represent our needs.
