The groundswell of discussion concerning the future of Great Lakes cities such as Erie is rising pretty rapidly.
We’ve written in the past that there is a gathering of Rust Belt/Great Lakes bloggers planned in Erie in July to talk about ways to use our blogs to promote growth and change in our region.
But there is already a lot of great activity going on in the blogosphere. And we’re discovering new venues quite regularly.
I’ve already been pointing to sites such as Burgh Diaspora, Fix Buffalo Today, and Null Space.
But I’m planning to expand the blogroll shortly to include new discoveries such as Great Lakes Guy, Rust Belt Bloggers, GLUE, and Defend Youngstown.
I know many more are out there, too. I look forward to building on this discussion and getting more new ideas on the table. It can only help bring action to a region that needs some fresh thinking.
After more than six years working as a journalist in Erie, I'm now the web editor for the Chronicle of Philanthropy in Washington, D.C., and the publisher of GlobalErie.com. I still maintain close ties to Erie - a community that I care about deeply. I hope this Web site can help inspire a better future for Erie.
